The single screw extruder is mainly a device that relies on drag flow to complete conveying. The material can only be transported forward when it adheres to the cylinder wall, and the greater the frictional force, the higher the pumping efficiency. If the material adheres to the screw, it cannot be conveyed forward. This limits the processing of low viscosity materials, especially high oil content materials by single screw extruders. The conveying method of a single screw extruder is also sensitive to high pressure. Pressure will generate reflux, reducing transport efficiency.

The fully engaged co rotating twin-screw extruder greatly improves the conveying, pumping, and mixing characteristics of materials. Although twin-screw extruders are also a type of drag flow machine, they have an additional function as positive pressure pumps due to their interlocking spiral structure. This allows twin-screw extruders to be used to transport both high viscosity and low viscosity materials, and has self-cleaning capabilities. After the production of feed, the machine will automatically extrude the remaining internal materials outside the machine, without the need to unload and clean them one by one.
